Steve Curry

Garden Grove, California is where Steve grew up. He and his father worked together as finish carpenters during Steve's secondary education. After Rancho Almitos High and Golden West College, Steve attended Cal State University, Fullerton receiving a Bachelors degree in marketing in 1971. While at Cal State, Steve met his future bride, Mary, a widow with a toddler named Michael. Oregon seemed a good place to raise two sons (David joined the family in 1972) so Steve found employment and moved everyone north.

Steve spent stints in construction and banking after coming to Oregon. With a strong desire to be self employed, Steve opened Heritage Motors. It would take a small amount of cash and tremendous drive to get this little company "off the ground". Over three decades later, the business is still thriving in the original location, gathering strength through word-of- mouth and repeat customers. Number two son, David, teaches at a middle school in Southern Oregon. Two daughters-in-law and 7 grandchildren round out the family.

Cars were an avocation before becoming a vocation. Steve gets a kick out of finding "creme puffs" that have been well maintained and will provide reliable transportation for his customers.

Steve has donated countless hours and thousands of dollars to local organizations in Medford over the years.

Service in these organizations:

  • Rogue Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee volunteer
  • Oregon Independent Auto Dealers Association (OIADA) -- State President and numerous other offices and committees.
  • National Independent Auto Dealers Association (NIADA) -- Region 4 Executive Vice President
  • Consumer Credit Counseling -- President, Board Member
  • Oregon Dealers Advisory Commission -- By appointment of the Oregon Department of Transportation to monitor & regulate licensed dealers
  • Greater Medford Rotary -- Charter President for 2 years, Sergeant at Arms committee
  • Eastwood Baptist Church - - Deacon Board terms variously in charge of Finance, Personnel & Worship
  • Medford Cruise Association -- Past Board of Directors President of this 10 day annual charity event held in June
  • Concours de Hot Rod -- Organized this charity event for Rogue Valley Youth for Christ
  • Jackson County Sports Park -- Advisory Committee

Customers vote with their feet and Heritage relies on satisfied customers and word-of-mouth in a fiercely competitive market. Members of the "R" family have purchased 58 vehicles from Steve since 1980. The "R's" and others steer their relatives and friends to the dealership where a fair deal and a quality vehicle are guaranteed

In one of numerous letters written by customers, a happy buyer wrote:
"Steve is the kind guy that if you stop in to say hello, he invites you in for coffee and while you're there, he has your car washed."

Sometimes buyers are moving toward an unwise buying decision. Steve's concern is apparent when he advises other options. He may miss a sale, but he knows the customer is better off.

That's what Steve means when he says "We take good care of our customers".
